Clements Market

Happy to engage on the question of whether Clements meets notability criteria. It is the largest local retailer and was explicitly invoked in discussions of the retail store size cap passed last year. It is located within the proposed Town Center district, and is described by journalist John R. MacArthur, in his book "You Can't Be President," this way: "Because Portsmouth has no downtown, Clements' serves as an unofficial town center and meeting place for the population of about 17,000" (Melville House, NY, 2008 p. 105) jmcdaid (talk) 17:33, 10 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mike Cloud

Fair enough. That seems to be reasonable grounds for inclusion. My apologies for the earlier reversions; I'm glad we had this discussion. 70.172.205.108 (talk) 09:25, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

not only is he the most successful, to my knowledge, he is the ONLY professional player from Portsmouth. I think simply making the NFL, especially having an 8 year career, from a small town is more than enough to be a notable resident. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Surgemg (talkcontribs) 17:03, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm afraid that is not a rationale which fits with the neutral perspective of Wikipedia. Patrick Kennedy is a member of Congress and a resident of Portsmouth, and qualifies for inclusion. Could you support a contention that Cloud was the most successful pro player from Portsmouth High? Ever? If so, that would, to my mind, be reasonable grounds for adding him. jmcdaid (talk) 09:25, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why? an NFL player is more than relevant to a small town. Portsmouth residents should be more proud of him than Patrick Kennedy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Surgemg (talkcontribs) 22:30, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I root for the Portsmouth Patriots too, but please. Stop putting Cloud in everywhere. jmcdaid 16:01, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
