Eastside City Park is a proposed urban park in Birmingham, United Kingdom, projected to cover at least 8 acres (32,000 m2).[1] The scheme is part of the Eastside regeneration programme, and is expected to be completed in 2013.[1]

History

In 2004, discussions began with the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE), outlining the preliminary processes regarding the development of the site.[2]

A May 2007 Big Lottery Fund request was filed for £25million, but was rejected in October of the same year. Birmingham City Council since pledged £5million to begin the project.[2]

Location

The Eastside City Park is proposed to run from the Cross-City Line (near Moor Street station), northwards to the Masshouse development where it runs in an easterly direction along Curzon Street, past Curzon Street railway station and Millennium Point. The easterly end of the park is bordered by the Digbeth Branch Canal.

Development

Development of the park will begin in 2011 by Patel Taylor, who gained commission for the project in 2006.[3]
