Conflict of interest on Pixantrone?

If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Pixantrone, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. For more details about what, exactly, constitutes a conflict of interest, please see our conflict of interest guidelines. This account, OfClinicalInterest, has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia, because your username does not meet our username policy.
This is often not a reflection on the user, and you are encouraged to choose a new account name which does meet our guidelines and are invited to contribute to Wikipedia under an appropriate username. If you feel this block was made in error, you may quickly and easily appeal it—see below.

Our username policy provides guidance on selecting your username. In brief, usernames should not be offensive, disruptive, promotional, misleading, or related to a 'real-world' group or organization. Also, usernames may not end with the string "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.

If you have already made edits and wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name you may request a change in username. To do so, please follow these directions:

  1. Add {{unblock-un|your new username here}} on your user talk page. This is possible because even when you are blocked, you can usually still edit your own talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note, you may only request a name that is not already in use. The account is created upon acceptance – do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change since we can far more easily allocate your new name to you, if it is not yet used. Usernames that have already been taken are listed here. For more information, please visit Wikipedia:Changing username.
  4. Alternatively, you can "abandon" the contributions under this username and create a new account, which is much faster and easier, especially if you have few or no edits.
Last, the automated software systems that prevent vandalism may have been activated, which can cause new account creation to be blocked also. If you have not acted in a deliberately inappropriate manner, please let us know if this happens, and we will deactivate the block as soon as possible. You may also appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} on your user talk page or emailing the administrator who blocked you. Nja247 19:56, 17 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Requested username:

Administrators should consider discussing any unblock with the blocking administrator (see the blocking policy).

Administrator use only:

If you ask the blocking administrator to comment on this request, please replace this template with the following:

{{unblock-un on hold | 1=blocking administrator | 2=therapeuticinterestinoncology | 4=~~~~}}

If you accept the unblock request, replace this template with the following:

{{unblock-un reviewed | 1=therapeuticinterestinoncology | accept=Allowing username change to requested username. Please select an option from [[Wikipedia:Changing username]] and file a request as soon as possible to avoid re-blocking. ~~~~}}

If you decline the unblock request, replace this template with the following, replacing {{subst:Decline reason here}} with any specific rationale. If you do not edit the text after "decline=", a default reason why the request was declined will be inserted.

{{unblock-un reviewed | 1=therapeuticinterestinoncology | decline={{subst:Decline reason here}} ~~~~}}

Hi... could you clarify your connection, if any, to Pixantrone or its manufacturer? --Rrburke(talk) 20:35, 17 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have a MS in Neurobiology, with research in a rat model of heritable neurodegeneration, and a study focus of neuroimmunology. I also have a BS in physiology which included study of a liposome mediated model of immunosuppression in rats. I am a science instructor, but not affiliated with any of the research instituions mentioned.

Financial 1. I am not receiving monetary or other benefits or considerations to edit Wikipedia as a representative of an organization. 2. I am not the owner, officer, manager nor employee of any of the existent companies mentioned in the article: Roche, Cell Therapeutics, nor Allied Chemical (a division of Honeywell). Nor am I to the companies a supplier, a representative of a goverment organization, a >10% shareholder, a creditor, a customer, nor a cancer patient, nor patient of any of the other diseases. The edits are historical and represent information presented by the American Society of Clinical Oncology and other scientific organizations and journals; and the companies producing the compound - as repreesnted to the press, to the US Patent Office, and to the FDA.

Legal antagonists:

I am not involved in court case regarding Pixantrone or any of the companies or chemicals mentioned in the article.

Autobiography:

The article is not about myself.

Self-promotion:

I am not engaged in self-promotion. I link to no advertisements, nor personal websites. When citing press releases by the companies involved in the development of Pixantrone, I have linked to Reuters or PR Newswire rather than those companies’ websites.

Promotional article production on behalf of clients:

I have not written a promotional article on behalf of clients. I believe that the article is written from a neutral historical point of view.

Campaigning: I am not engaged in advocacy.

Close relationships: I have no close relationships with the individuals who have developed Pixantrone.

The name ASCOPixantrone was chosen as an alternative to my given name based upon Wikipeida advice. The name was not intended to imply affiliation with the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) nor Pixantrone, but was created as I was initially interested in adding to the article information contained in the abstract on Pixantrone to be presented as a poster at the upcoming ASCO convention (listed as a reference). The article developed from this starting point. As I added information, I found and used and researched categories of information found in Wikipedia articles on similar compounds.
