"Don't Trust Me" is the second single by the electronica band 3OH!3 released in 2008 and the third track of their debut album Want. The single earned certified gold and then platinum in just several months of its release.

Release and airplay

"Don't Trust Me" was released on July 8, 2008 as the lead-off single for the band's label debut. The song received a considerable amount of airplay on radio stations near 3OH!3's hometown of Boulder, Colorado and on Sirius Satellite Radio. It has also seen playtime on the radio station "KISS FM 106.1" and "Z100 NY" in Seattle and New York. It has recently been receiving heavy airplay in Australia on various stations on the Austereo Network & Macquarie Southern Cross Media's HitMusic Network. The song also has been recieveing airplay on Top 40 stations across America. The song is also featured on the game, Tap Tap Revenge for the iPhone OS.

Music video

The official video begins with words being typed on the screen stating "A global virus of catastrophic proportions has attacked the entire male population. Only two male models from Colorado survive...this is their story". The screen shifts to a shot of the band at a photo shoot. The set resembles that of a hotel. Another photo shoot takes place at a set resembling a high school wrestling match, where they are dressed in neon-colored clothing. The last photo shoot is in the prehistoric era, and the band is dressed as cavemen. The video ends with a shot of a mushroom cloud, and the words "Transmission terminated" are typed onto the screen.

Chart performance

"Don't Trust Me" became the band's breakout hit. It is their first top ten hit in the U.S, reaching #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 in it's twenty-third week on the chart.[1] It has sold over 1,424,000 downloads, and has been certified Platinum.[2] It has also been climbing quickly on U.S. Mainstream Top 40 radio. It has gone top forty on the Canadian Hot 100 as well, at #33. "Don't Trust Me" has done particularly well in Oceania, where it has reached the top three in Australia, and the top ten in New Zealand. It has also reached #5 in Finland.
