Thanks for that helpful info at my talk page about the Citroen ev'ie pic.

I understand the need of Wikipedia to protect itself legally, but when you get a manufacturer's written permission to use an image (and they actually send you the photo) you'd think it would be fairly simple to add it without someone immediately censoring it.

I have permissions for uploading other photos in rather diverse subjects and wonder whether to bother if it's gonna just treplicate my work going round in circles.

That's not your fault, it's a fault of Wikipedia that I grumble about a lot: that unless you know exactly how to do something it's hard to find any help telling you how to do it. (I'd never heard of WP:OTRS for example). Then someone else will delete it under some arcane rule, instead of making any real attempt to improve it, because it's just easier to delete it than improve it, I guess. I can assure you that there is absolutely nothing you can do but follow the rules, get the copyright information, or not use the photo. WP used to be a lot more loose about permissions than they are now. However, if you can get them to release the photo "for any purpose", than it can be used. Have you thought of asking for mentoring? What that means is that someone who has learned the ropes will help you out. 199.125.109.29 (talk) 02:42, 31 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
