Enrique Dussel (born December 24, 1934 in Argentina) is a Latin American writer and philosopher. Born in Argentina, but he was exiled in Mexicosince 1975, today is mexican citizen. Is profesor in the Departament of Philosophy In the Universidad Autónoma de México (UAM, Iztapala, Mexico City)and give lessons in the UNAM. He has aquired a Doctor in Philosophy in the Complutense of Madrid and a Doctor in History from the Sorbone of Paris. He also have a license in theology from Paris and Münster.His works covers many fields but have special attetion in ethics and political philosophy. He has maintain dialogue with philosophers how Karl-Otto Apel, Gianni Vattimo, Jürgen Habermas, Richard Rorty and Emmanuel Lévinas He is known as one of the greatest exponents of Philosophy of Liberation and Liberation Theology. His critical thiking, exposed in his book Politics of Liberation, proposed a new way (a critical way)to read the universal history. Author of more than 50 books, his thoughts cover many themes including: theology, politics, philosophy, ethics, political philosophy, aesthetics, and ontology. He has been a critic of postmodernity, preferring instead the term "transmodernity."
