Brett R. Lawrie (born January 18, 1990 in Burnaby, British Columbia) is a minor league baseball second baseman in the Milwaukee Brewers organization. He is currently playing for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.
While playing high school baseball for the Langley Blaze of the B.C. Premier Baseball League, Lawrie was selected with the 16th overall pick in the 2008 Major League Baseball Draft by the Brewers, the highest that a Canadian position player has ever been drafted.[1][2] He was a member of the Canadian Junior National Team at the 2008 World Junior Baseball Championship where he led the tournament in batting average (.469), home runs (3) and runs batted in (16).[3] He was also selected to play for Canada at the 2008 Summer Olympics and in the 2009 World Baseball Classic.[4]
Lawrie was selected to participate for the World Team at the 2009 MLB All-Star Futures Game at Busch Stadium in St. Louis.[5]
