Zana Krasniqi (born September 15, 1988)[1] is a model, and the first Miss Universe Kosovo since the state's declaration of independence on 17 February 2008. In her inaugural appearance she made it to 6th place. In this first appearance Miss Kosovo made at the Miss Universe pageant, much of the media surrounded the 'controversial' issue of whether or not she could be friends with Miss Serbia, Krasniqi and Miss Serbia did in fact befriend each other.[2]

Personal life

Zana Krasniqi comes from a background of entertainers including her father Naim Krasniqi, a famous singer in Kosovo[3]. Though it is not known how she was discovered and chosen for the pageant, Zana was trained by photographer Fadil Berisha[4], who worked with the Miss Universe organization, and is a fellow Kosovar Albanian[5][6]. Her interests include singing, performing and modelling. Her career ambition is to be a fashion designer. [7]
