Yeouido Airport

Yeouido Airport was an International Airport in Yeouido, Seoul city. It operated from 1929 to 1958. It was closed prior to the opening of Seoul Air Base.

History

  • 1916:Japan made an airport in Yeouido
  • 1922:Korea's first pilot Ahn Chang Nam did a test flight here
  • 1929:Airport Extension
  • 1953:Yeouido airport became an international airport
  • 1958:Prior to the opening of Kimpo International Airport, all civilian flights were moved to there
  • 1971:After the use of an air base since the opening of Kimpo International Airport, The military functions all moved to the newly built Seoul Air Base and the airport was closed. Currently, the site of the Yeouido Park is where the runway was.
