James Martin Frost (born August 22, 1986 in Cowbridge, Wales) is the guitarist, keyboardist and backing vocalist of Welsh band The Automatic.[1] Frost also records and edits many of the bands video dairies.[2][3]

Musical career

Frost began playing guitar at a young age, and after introducing band mate Robin Hawkins into music and the bass guitar Frost and Hawkins along with friend Iwan Griffiths formed the band White Rabbit, which later with the addition of Alex Pennie became The Automatic.[4] After several years of touring, Alex Pennie departed from the band, leading to Paul Mullen from Yourcodenameis:Milo to join the band, Frost and Mullen are both simply stated as guitarists for The Automatic, neither is rhythm or lead, both Paul and Frost also provide synthesizers on various tracks, as well as backing vocals.

In 2006's NME "cool awards" Frost was voted number 20 in the list, beating former band-mate Alex Pennie.[5]

In 2006 the Frost criticized Sandi Thom for mixing with the wrong scene, Frost saying; "If she was a punk rocker with flowers in her hair she'd get the s*** kicked out of her by other punk rockers, for having flowers in her hair."[6]

Musical Equipment and style

Frost often states his main musical influence to be Blur and specifically guitarist Graham Coxon, his favorite Blur album is 13.[7]
