Edit Warring Notice

Stop icon

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.Contimm (talk) 19:14, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Kehz99,

You are clearly either new to Wikipedia, or slightly confused. When you report someone to an administrator, you are supposed to notify them by posting the below message to that individual's talk page. I followed the rules by doing so. You did not do the same when you reported me to an administrator, which is why the administrator informed you of this on the noticeboard. Are you even reading the things I am posting regarding this incident? This is very tiring. We are not talking about New York or London - keep the focus on the articles in question, and actually make arguments. I intend no disrespect, but part of Wikipedia is NOT taking things personally and NOT acting in a reactionary way, which you have done to me, and to users User:Quantpole and User:Ankimai in the past regarding the same articles.

Sincerely, Contimm (talk) 18:53, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Kehz99,

You are mistaken. Here is the page that shows my edits to the Abuja page <http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Abuja&diff=309455103&oldid=309427070>. I DELETED NO PICTURES. The picture of the Abuja Royal Hotel and the Abuja Residential Complex were added to the Photo Gallery. I CHANGED NO INFORMATION. I merely removed dead hyperlinks. It was you who undid my edits. I never undid anything that you did on the Abuja page. It took a painstakingly long time to remove all the hyperlinks, which is the primary root of my frustration at your behavior. I have no choice but to report you to Wikipedia.

Here are my edits to the Lagos page <http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Lagos&diff=309336499&oldid=309322373>. I removed the pic of the Lagos Court Residential Apartments in Ikoyi. The rowhouses in the New York City article (1) show that they are a part of a streetscape (2) are indicative of the architecture in that area of the city and of the lodgings that many people actually live in. In Lagos, the majority of people do NOT live in the style of housing in the Lagos Court Apartments - it is just tacky to include it. It gives, and buffers, the continuing impression of Nigerians as materialistic by only depicting the way the elites live. There needs to be balance in photo selection for the article in the same way that text needs to be balanced.

I moved your picture of the Victoria Island condos to THE VICTORIA ISLAND page. It makes more sense here.

I only deleted your picture of the Meridian Hotel in Ikeja, because there simply was no room for it in the Tourism section, which is where it would belong. There are already no fewer than 3 pictures of the Lagos skyline. The pictures are BETTER than the one you had with the back of the man's head. Your picture, whilst nothing is wrong with it, IS somewhat grainy. It adds nothing to the article in the position it was placed in.

I reversed the order of the School listings, because the secondary school list was so long.

NO ONE IS TRYING TO REVERSE ALL OF YOUR EDITS. AS YOU CAN SEE, I ONLY ENHANCED THE GOOD WORK THAT ALREADY EXISTED ON THE PAGE. Again, I am in the process of reporting you to Wikipedia. I will wait for your response before undoing revisions (again). So far, though, your response is still unsatisfactory.

Hi Kehz99,

Whilst I appreciate your concern for the Lagos and Abuja pages, if you actually took the time to see my edits, you would see that I removed NO INFORMATION and NO PHOTOS from the page. I removed the dead hyperlinks because they are tacky. If you hyperlink something for which a page does not exist AND you do not take the initiative to start a page, then you are not doing Wikipedia a service. Further, pictures of privately owned apartment blocks (Abuja and Lagos articles) and a grainy picture of the back of someone's head at a Lagos lounge are PRIVATE pictures, and not at all indicative of the cities themselves. My resize of some of the pics related to their disproportionate size vis-a-vis the blocks of texts they sat next to. In addition, I added certain photos (like the Abuja Residential Duplex) to the photo gallery in the article because it did not correspond to any text in the article. Please, do NOT try and tell me not to "undo" the hard work of others. You might be interested to know that I have personally contributed a substantial amount of time to both the Lagos and Abuja articles, albeit before I signed up for a username. Not only did I not remove anyone's text, but I went to specific pains to leave intact other people's pictures if they were mildly appropriate. I will reinstate my revisions, and you should be forewarned not to undo them without valid reason. I look forward to an intelligent response if you have one to offer.

Sincerely,

You have been blocked from editing for a short time in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy to prevent further disruption caused by your engagement in an edit war. During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may contest the block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below. Shell babelfish 21:34, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
