Kilukkam (Jingle) is a 1991 screwball comedy film directed by Priyadarshan. This movie revolves around Nandini (Revathi), an orphan who comes to Ooty in search of her father. it is the second biggest hit in the history of malayalam film industry. collected Rs.5crore from theatrical run, surpassed chithram's record of Rs.4crore. later manichithrathazhu grossed more than kilukkam at a higher ticket price.


Plot Synopsis

Nandini (Revathi), is an illegitimate child who comes to Ooty, in search of her father who is a retired chief justice of supreme court. She finds Joji (Mohanlal), a tourist guide and acts as though she is mad and takes shelter in his home. Eventually she reveals her true identity and they slowly begin to fall in love. Other parallel threads includes the life of Joji and Nischal (Jagathy Sreekumar) and also that of Kittunni (Innocent Vincent) who leads a miserable and frustrated life as a servant.

Reception

The movie was a huge success at the box office. Now the film is quite widely regarded as one of the greatest comedy films made in Malayalam and as a comedy classic. The comedy scenes from the film are still the favourites of many. Some critics credits Jagathy Sreekumar for the film's incomparable comedy scenes. The scenes in which Nischal (Jagathy Sreekumar) lands up in hospital several times and Kittunni's (Innocent Vincent) farewell to his master (Thilakan) are still widely sought by audience in television phone-in shows. kilukkam made many records in the box-office.This is the first film celebrated 100days in 10theatres. Kilukkam was the first film to collect more than Rs.1crore from the releasing centres,and when it finished its run in releasing centres , gross collection was more than Rs.2crores. It is considered as the biggest malayalam hit along with chithram(1988).

The film is very popular among the new generation through television channels.
