Article To Be Used On/Reason For Upload: Mark Papermaster, because the article currently lacks his headshot. I'm expanding this page as an assignment for a class at UC Berkeley's School of Information called Intellectual Property Law in the Information Industries and I thought it would be nice to have his picture. I added the infobox this morning and plan to include more details of the IBM case in the expanded version of the article. I have not been able to find a free photo to use in place of this one.

  • Agreed that the image is theoretically replaceable with a freely licensed one. However, I don't follow your reasoning that on that basis "we cannot claim fair use." So far as the law is concerned, yes we can claim fair use. Are you referring to some Wikipedia policy I'm not familiar with? If so, please cite. Also, the license agreement accompanying the image allows editorial use, which would be the use on Wikipedia, and requires only no modifications and an attribution of the form: "Courtesy of Apple". In some ways this is a more "free" license than CC-BY. Suggest this decision be reconsidered.Brianwc (talk) 18:13, 23 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The fair-use guidelines state that the logo should be "of a size and resolution sufficient to maintain the quality intended by the company or organization". I will need more convincing that the copyright is as claimed on the flickr page, first I see of this picture is 30 October 2001 on the BBC web site at http://news.bbc.co.uk/cbbcnews/hi/tv_film/newsid_1628000/1628670.stm may be it is some sort of publicity shot from the film maker. I am talking to the author about a creative commons license for the image of the book cover but that may take a while. Template:Ifu s Description: This is the logo for Community Environmental Center. Community Environmental Center is a not-for-profit organization which services thousands of low-income users in the New York City area. To accurately portray the organization, it would not be appropriate to not include their logo, which is their visual representation.
