Andrew Cogliano (born June 14, 1987 in Toronto, Ontario) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player currently playing for the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League (NHL).

Minor League Career

Cogliano started playing hockey with the St. Michaels Buzzers, a Tier 2 Junior "A" Team in Toronto. In two seasons with the Buzzers, Cogliano posted a total of 62 goals, 113 assists for 175 points.

NHL Career

On July 30, 2005, Cogliano was selected 25th overall in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft by the Edmonton Oilers.

On May 3, 2007, Cogliano signed his first professional contract with the Oilers. He played his first NHL game on October 4, 2007 against the San Jose Sharks and recorded an assist. He scored his first NHL goal on October 8, 2007 against the Detroit Red Wings, on goaltender Dominik Hašek.

On March 7, March 9, and March 11, 2008, Cogliano set an NHL record by scoring overtime goals in three consecutive games against the Columbus Blue Jackets, Chicago Blackhawks, and St. Louis Blues, respectively. His stick and gloves were subsequently sent to the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Cogliano had a very impressive first NHL season, scoring 45 points (18 goals, 27 assists) in 82 games. He led the team with five game winning goals, and had the highest shooting percentage at 18.4%. In his second NHL season, his play dropped off a bit, being hit by the sophomore jinx with fellow teammate Sam Gagner. Cogliano posted 38 points (18 goals, 20 assists). That very season, Cogliano was invited to the NHL YoungStars Game during the All-Star weekend in Montreal, playing for the Sophomores team. Cogliano also participated in and won the "Fastest Skater" competition during the SuperSkills event, clocking in at a time of 14.31 seconds.

Personal Life

Cogliano grew up in Woodbridge, Ontario. During the winter, he and his older brother play hockey while during the summer they enjoy playing soccer. Cogliano lives in a house with fellow teammate Sam Gagner, that is provided by Oilers captain Ethan Moreau.
