Sources and more stuff to add to the article

I don't understand Korean, so I'm pretty much useless when it comes to adding references for articles. When I googled 2PM articles from Newsen, though a bunch of stuff popped up - http://www.google.com/#hl=en&q=site%3Awww.newsen.com+2pm&aq=f&oq=&aqi=&fp=KxYPMM6r3XA If anyone has the time to go through some of these and add information to the article, that'd be great. Otherwise... I'll be getting to know Google Translate this summer.

Also, should the guys' participation on TV shows be noted, e.g. their activities on MBC's Idol Show (Idol Army?), Mnet's Scandal, etc.? JYP hasn't released his official statements, because there are so many HOTTEST fans who are protesting against this right now. And I don't understand why Wikipedia has changed to six members, although they were no official statements. Please do consider this Wikipedia editors. This is just not right. splitting the history section and random questions

1 - I was thinking of splitting the history section into a predebut and current (2008/2009) subsections, to make it more organized and to act as a template in the coming years.... but it seems that there isn't much info on them (in English). Any thoughts? If no one responds, I'm splitting the section >:|

2 - Are positions (e.g. vocalist rapper, dancer) really necessary?

Well... since they're a boyband, it's sort of a given that they're expected to dance and sing. It might be helpful to have rapper as Taec's position, and maybe lead dancer for Jay's since he does get the spotlight a lot for that (based on that, I guess Junsu's "lead vocalist" is fine, too) but other than that, there's nothing really special about what they do so I don't think it should be kept in. I mean, if they were an a cappella group, it might be necessary to note their vocal positions (e.g. tenor, baritone, bass etc.) but... they're really not. 3 - For the "Other Activities" section, I'd like to add in TV stuff, such as their roles in Mnet's Hot Blood, Mnet's Scandal, Mnet's Wild Bunny, MBC's Idol Show, Taec and Wooyoung MC-ing for Inkigayo, Khun's regular appearances on Star King... that kind of stuff. Need sources, though. And any opinion of whether or not they should be added.

Romanizing 2PM song names

Romanization is completely unnecessary. In English it is referred to by its English translation, in Korean it's referred to by it's Korean name. Unless it is somehow official, romanization can be kept for translation websites. --Daydreamer198 (talk) 09:53, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

While I agree that the English translations are more commonly used, they're not "official" - i.e. the Korean titles are used in the albums. Since this is an English Wikipedia, though, using the Korean titles isn't going to work since not everyone can read Korean. Providing the romanization is useful and doesn't hurt the article.

Also, if you look at other articles dealing with kpop artists (e.g. TVXQ and Shinee, both of which are rated good articles) you can see that most of the editors choose to use the romanization, Korean, and English translation when discussing song titles. This also makes things easier if an article on a single is created in the future, as this -> Wikipedia:Naming conventions (use English) suggests that all foreign names be romanized (not that the titles of the songs are names.... but i couldn't find an mos for korean songs). I'm going to revert your edits temporarily, although I won't do it again after this time until we get more input. - rairakku(talk to me) 05:14, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Romanization of member names

(This is mainly for Chansung and Wooyoung)

Wiki's Korean MOS suggests that the Revised Romanization of Korean be used, which indicates that 찬성 should be romanized as Chanseong rather than Chansung. Don't think it's a valid source, but his twitter account is also 2PMchanseong, and Jay's name is romanized with the "eo" rather than the "u". The problem is that many fansites seem to use Chansung and searching "chansung" in google yields 343,000 results while searching "chanseong" yields 84,200 results. So the question is - leave it? change it? I know this is a small issue compared to Jay's controversy, but it's been bothering me for a while. Also, if the guidelines for the revised romanization system are to be used, how exactly is 우영 supposed to be romanized? - rairakku(talk to me) 02:27, 9 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If it's established, leave it. RR should be used when there's no set established spelling. I know that "officially", JYP uses RR, but realistically...do even (English) Korean news sites spell it that way? (If they do, then it should be changed to RR.) (a) I don't think most koreans in fansites are particularly worried about specific romanization rules. they know how the names are pronounced and pick an english spelling that makes the most sense to them, so there will be some variation. I suggest trying to stick with the most official english spelling that can be found. seems like jyp officially romanizes the names as "chansung" and "wooyoung", according to their videos (i was thrown off by chansung's supposed twitter account), so i guess it'll stay as is. also... order of the names? the predebut section lists their names as family name first, then given name, except in the case of nichkhun. should they all be switched to the "western" way of naming people, to keep it consistent? - rairakku(talk to me) 22:01, 14 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
