History

Dead or Alive through Dead or Alive 2

Ayane is the half-sister of Kasumi and Hayate (they all have the same mother). During the events of DOA2, she is ordered by Genra to hunt down and kill Kasumi (who has been considered a runaway shinobi) because of her departure from her village. However, Ayane failed in her task, being defeated by Kasumi in the final rounds of the tournament. Ayane also encounters Hayate in the DOA2 tournament, but he was suffering from temporary memory loss (due to the Epsilon project). Because he did not remember her, they were forced to fight.

During the DOA2 Tournament Ayane is confronted by Helena, who accused her of killing Helena's opera singing mother. Ayane does not deny it and a battle ensues before she can answer.

Dead or Alive 3

Ayane enters Dead or Alive 3 in order to defeat (and kill) Genra, who has been made into a puppet of DOATEC, to put him out of his misery. She sees this as her responsibility, in a small way to return the favor that he gave in taking her under his wing.

Dead or Alive Extreme Beach volleyball

Ayane was invited to Zack Island for the fourth Dead or Alive Tournament. However, the tournament was a hoax and Ayane (with the other DOA girls) were stuck for two weeks on the tropical island.

Other appearances

Ayane has a recurring appearance in Ninja Gaiden, suggesting that the world of Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive take place on the same fictional earth.

Personality

Frankly, Ayane is a mess. She feels she was abandoned by her family (and rightfully so) and that with the confirmation of her being related to Kasumi and Hayate (due to Raidou's raping of her mother) she has little purpose in life. She looked up to Hayate as a way of increasing her self-esteem and evaporating her sadness.

On her own time, Ayane is quiet and reserved, and tries to forget her experiences as a child; being taunted and expelled from normal life because of her heritage. She also harbors a deep hatred for Kasumi, due to the fact that she is Ayane's half-sister, yet received (much) better treatment. Ayane honed her skills to unbelievable heights, in an attempt to make others see her little more than a "cursed child"; now with the departure of Genra, Ayane is the strongest ninja of the Hajinmon, as well gaining the fear of the lowly ninjas below her.

Ayane
  • Ayane is a very powerful character that knows many seemingly superhuman moves, but her spinning moves cost a lot of strength and energy. Her primary advantages are speed and agility, which allows her to easily dodge attacks and exploit her opponents weak spots. This makes up for her relative lack of reach and brute strength.
  • She first appears in Dead or Alive as an extra character, which can be unlocked.
