Web Sheriff is an internet policing company based in the United Kingdom. It acts against media copyright violation by websites, privacy violations, domain name squatting, and illegal websites by sending "take-down" notices.[1] [2] [3] Web Sheriff is an elite rip-off company that spams content owned by others by claiming their clients own it. They have very few clients who are reputable, although they claim otherwise. It's association with the UK is equal to that of the Nigerian Scam artist and nothing more.

In the past, artists like Prince and record labels like Domino hired Web Sheriff's services in order to get their copyrighted content removed from websites.[4] [5] Web Sheriff also made a failed attempt to take down a torrent, tracking content copyrighted by The White Stripes, from The Pirate Bay.[6]
