Jack Hunter (born June 1, 1972), also known as the Southern Avenger is a conservative radio host and political commentator. He appears every Tuesday and Friday morning on WTMA News-Talk 1250 AM. Hunter is also a weekly contributor to the Charleston City Paper.[1] He is known for often providing commentary from both paleoconservative and paleolibertarian viewpoints, as he sees the liberal internationalism that is found in the Democratic Party and the neoconservatism that is prominent in the Republican Party to be ultimately indistinguishable from one another. Hunter is also a contributing editor to Taki's Magazine.[2] He is single and resides in Charleston, South Carolina.

Nickname

He goes by the nickname the Southern Avenger. Hunter said the name was a rip-off of 1990s conservative radio host Ken Hamblin who went by the name The Black Avenger. Hunter also stated that the nickname was suggested to him by a friend while in a Jim Beam induced haze and it stuck. [3]

Feud with Mark Levin

After writing a piece critical of nationally syndicated radio host and political pundit Mark Levin,[4] Levin has added Hunter to his List of the World's Most Deranged Bloggers in which he refers to Hunter as "Charleston City Paper's First Lady, Jackie Hunter".[5] Levin has referred to Hunter on air as a "freak", "effeminate", and a "punk".
