Josh Crutchley

Josh Crutchley (born June 4, 1987 in Shrewsbury, England, growing up in Telford), is a British professional basketball player for the Birmingham Panthers competing in the British Basketball League. Crutchley is to be the most well known basketball player in Shropshire and around the league for his vertical jump and cross over moves.

During his local league years of basketball for the under 16/18's, Crutchley was well known around the league for his vertical jumping ability. Josh would throw the ball let it bounce once and catch it midair for the dunk. Standing only 5 ft 4 at this time.

After competing in the local leagues with the Shropshire Warriors, the biggest funded club in England, Josh Crutchley left Charlton School to study at the Telford College Of Arts and Technology and became basketball captain for the TCAT Academy.

Josh Crutchley continued with the ambition to study at Bangor University, going for the honours degree in sports Science later on turning down the option and *signing with the newly formed Birmingham Panthers.

Throughout Crutchley's basketball career, he has competed in the Millennium Youth Games 2000 which included *Mr Motivator to prepare the team, competed in the West Midlands Squad under 16s, and also competed in the *England Basketball under 16s.

Josh Crutchley's achievements include:

  • League Champions during his junior season 2000 with *Shropshire Warriors
  • County College champions 3 years running 2003-2006
  • College Cup winners winning 2004/6
  • TCATS Student and Basketball Player of the Year 2006
  • 3 MVP awards with the Shropshire Warriors as well as 2 Most Improved and 1 Team Spirit

Josh Crutchley is still a part of the*Shropshire Warriorsprogram. Tom Sunley, Owner and Sport Coach Manager of the *Shropshire Warriors Franchise allows Josh Crutchley to compete in the Premiar League, Senior Men's side.

Crutchley competes in the *EBL division 4 with the *Team Birmingham Bullets a new franchise formed in 2009 by Neil Nisbet ex *BBL *Birmingham Bullets Player from the 90's and Former *Leicester Riders assistance coach Des Williams.
