Michael J. Sullivan is a contemporary American author of Epic Fantasy as well as an accomplished artist. Mr. Sullivans resides in Fairfax, Virginia.

History

Michael Sullivan began writing at the age of ten.[1] Over a span of fifteen years he wrote thirteen novels, but never made any serious attempts at publishing them. After thirty-four years of writing his first novel, The Crown Conspiracy was released in October 2008.[2]. The first book in the Riyria Revelations, this six-book series was fully written before the first book was released. [3] The Riyria Revelations abandons the recent trends in fantasy toward the lengthy, gritty, and dark, and brings the genre back to its roots and contained far more traditional elements [4]. The series is centered around two thieves Royce Melborne and Hadrian Blackwater and contains adventure, humor, and twisting plots. The two are reminicent of buddy cop movies but set in a fantasy setting[5]. Mr. Sullivan's writes a light, easy to read style which has been favorably compared to David Eddings and early Raymond E. Feist[6].

In addition to Sullivan's writing, he is an accomplished artist who received a scholarship to attended Center for Creative Studies.[7] Mr. Sullivan formed his own advertising agency in 1996 and ran it until 2005 whenhe closed it to write full time.[8]
