Old Refineries
Texaco Montreal East Refinery
The Texaco Montreal East Refinery was located on the current grounds of Interquisa Canada on Gamble Avenue. This refinery was near of that of Imperial Oil Ltd. It was founded in the 60s and operated for only twenty years. The closure of the Texaco refinery coincided with those of the refineries of Imperial Oil Ltd., Gulf Canada, and BP. These massive closures of refineries was made in the 80s during the crisis of the oil.
BP Montreal East/Anjou Refinery
The BP Montreal East/Anjou Refinery was situated on the current grounds of the Metropolitan golf club in the district of Anjou of the city of Montreal. It was the only refinery to be built in the North of the metropolitan freeway in the history of this center of refining. She was able to produce some gasoline during twenty years but the oil crisis of the Middle East forces its closure in the 80s.
Imperial Oil Ltd. Esso Montreal East Refinery
The Imperial Oil Ltd. Esso Montreal East Refinery was the first refinery of the Montreal Oil Refining Center. She was founded in 1913, three years after the foundation of the city of Montréal-Est. She refined some oil during more than 70 years and she returned service to the east Montrealers. It was constantly evolving and during the last years of her exploitation, the company made massive investments to strengthen the refinery in the market of the refining. The closure of the refinery and its dismantling remains mysterious due to the profitability of the refinery and its successful units of refining. Maybe a new refinery Imperial Oil will return to the Montreal-East.
Petrochemical plants
Coastal Petrochemical
The petrochemical company of Coastal is quite new because it is the result of a restart thanks to the company Interquisa Canada. Indeed, this company carried the name of Kemtec Petrochemical. Today, this petrochemical complex make paraxylene, benzene and toluene, before, phenol and acetons. The Coastal Petrochemical compagny is a commercial partner with Parachem petrochemical, PttPolyCanada and Interquisa Canada.
Kemtec Petrochemical
The Kemtec Petrochemical compagny was a company similar to that of Coastal Petrochemical. Its transformed and finished products are practically the same, except in the case of the phenol and the acetones where Coastal made dismantle the industrial units.
