Mt. SAC Campus

Founded in 1949, Mt. San Antonio College, commonly called Mt. SAC (pronounced as the word "sack"), is a community college located in the Los Angeles suburb of Walnut, California, next to California State Polytechnic University, Pomona which is just over a hill.

It is the largest community college in the State of California with over 33,000 full-time equivalent credit enrolled students , with a total of over 40,000 (Fall 2004), exceeding even that of many of the nation's largest universities. The current president of the college is Dr. Christopher O'Hearn, who joined the college in 2003. Its most recent past president is Dr. Bill Fedderson.

The school has a planetarium, horse range, and a track field. There is a football field, a golf course, and a soccer field. It has an olympic-sized swimming pool, tennis courts, and an equestrian range. There is a wildlife preservation area, a performing arts center, and a campus cafe (which serves Starbucks coffee). There is an aviation and aircraft maintenance program. In many respects, it has the wide accommodation and mammoth size one would expect at a larger four-year establishment. There has even been much talk of it eventually becoming one. The school already has several programs in partnership with four-year schools to which students can arrange to receive bachelor degrees.

Student government

The student government, known as the Associated Students of Mt. San Antonio College ("A.S.") is the largest campus organization. It boasts a budget of over $640,000, which is what some might consider sizable for a small city. Because of the large budget, student government elections are intense, competitive, and controversial, having a long established a reputation of running into electoral problems. The budget of the Associated Students comes from all the students paying the optional Student Activities fee of $11, of which many students choose to opt-out. The A.S. is recognized as the official student voice on campus by the college administration. The Associated Students is made up of: Executive Board, Senate, and Student Court.

The current officers (Executive Board) for 2005-6 term are as follows: Board of Trustees Rep: Christopher McKay, A.S. President: Miguel Del Mundo, A.S. Vice-President (Business): Anthony Ruiz A.S. Vice-President (Activities): Breeanne Batson, Inter-Club Council (Chair): Victor La, Inter-Club Council (Vice Chair): (unfilled)

The previous student body president was Greg Justice (2005), now serving as the Executive Director of the Institute for Politics and Social Affairs.
