Elevation Church in Charlotte, North Carolina is a church plant of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina. Pastored by Steven Furtick, the church was listed by Outreach Magazine as the second fastest growing church in the United States for 2008.[1] Previously in 2007, it was listed by the same magazine as the eighth fastest growing church.[2] As part of a church planting team, Furtick and six other families from Christ Covenant Church in Shelby, North Carolina relocated to the town of Matthews in the Charlotte area meeting in a local high school.[3] On February 5, 2006, the first Sunday worship service, 121 people attended. One year after it began attendance averaged 1200 people.

Elevation is a multi-site church. Charlotte services are held in Providence High School. In Uptown Charlotte, services are held at the McGlohon Theatre. On August 22, 2009, Elevation opened their first permanent location, a renovated furniture warehouse in Matthews, NC. Average attendance is over 5,000.[4]
