Tim Lane is a legendary Australian journalist and commentator.

An avid supporter of the Carlton Football Club, Lane is recognised as one of the best reporters and journalists of the modern era in Australia. He has been a long-time employee of the ABC, both on radio and on TV. On radio he has commentated a massive number of sports, including tennis and most famously, Australian rules football. His articulate style is regarded as one of the best going around.

Lane was involved in a dispute in 2002 when he was set to go to Channel Nine to commentate the AFL, but he quit on account of Eddie McGuire's "conflict of interest" when commentating games involving the club which he was the president of, Collingwood. However, Lane moved to the Network Ten's AFL coverage, where he still commenates to this day.

Lane is also a regular columnist in The Age
