Yuri Abram Rutman born May 5, 1972)[1] is an American entrepreneur, filmmaker, screenwriter, actor, film producer, and motion picture financier who currently is the CEO of Noci Pictures Entertainment, which structures and advises on risk minimized film finance transactions for hedge funds, private equity firms, accredited investors, family offices, and investment managers.


Early Life

Yuri Rutman was born in Kiev, Ukrainian SSR, Soviet Union to a Jewish family. His family moved to Haifa, Israel, in 1973 and eventually settled in Chicago in 1975. In Chicago, he attended Daniel Boone Elementary School and Lincoln Hall Middle School In Lincolnwood, IL. He attended Niles West High School in Skokie, IL but ultimately graduated from Mather High School in Chicago. He briefly attended the film program at Columbia College Chicago, transferred to Loyola University Chicago, and ultimately graduated from Northeastern Illinois University with a degree in Criminal Justice and Sociology[2].


Career

While in high school, Rutman acted in plays and started to dabble in trading stocks and other business endeavors. In college he started to attend film festivals such as Cannes. After obtaining his real estate license when he was 21, Rutman ultimately spent more than a decade alternating between creative endeavors, currency trading, and being part of real estate teams that sold more than a $1 billion in properties. In 2000, he partnered up R.P. White, a San Francisco Venture Capitalist who is currently the founder of Engate. White provided the initial seed capital for Rutman and his Company's first film, "Mr. Id", without even meeting Rutman. White read the business plan via email and on the model of it wired Rutman money a few weeks later. [3] The film was eventually sold throughout the world and is currently available as a Video On Demand title online. "Mr. Id"'s cast included Ami Dolenz, Steve Parlevecchio, and Rutman.

Rutman ultimately was involved in financing and producing numerous other film, television, and digital media content and currently has several film projects in active development or pre-production including "Milwaukee", which will be directed by David R. Ellis("The Final Destination", "Snakes On A Plane", "Cellular", "The Violinist", "Layers", and various 3D Cinema projects he has planned with his producing partner Victor Love[4]

He has also announced plans for a $300 million private equity fund to finance and produce 30-50 films over the next five years[5]

Personal

Rutman is an avid practitioner of Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Ashtanga Yoga, and in his youth competed in natural bodybuilding contests. He speaks fluent Russian.
