Samuel Johnson not a Scotophobe
Samuel Johnson is routinely dismissed as a Scotophobe, but this should be taken with a grain of salt. He surrounded himself with Scotsmen such as Boswell, and five of his six aids in compiling his dictionary were Northerners or Scotsmen. In his dictionary he liberally points out Scots terminolgy. It seems that he enjoyed to play a Scotophobe, but it seems a playful, respectful hatred.

- I don't think it should be taken with a pinch of salt. He routinely made such comments, and liked Scots, as long as they agreed with him, or worked for him. He took an almost colonial attitude to them.--MacRusgail (talk) 17:56, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
Porridge Wog
'Porridge Wog' should not be included in this article for two main reasons (A) it is an article about Sawney - 'Porridge Wog' does not really have any relevance to this - I'm sure we could all think of 50 racial slurs for Scots - should they all be included? (B) Porridge Wog is not even a widely used term - I've never heard it before, and the citation provided for it is a comedy website that is hardly reputable. If 'Porridge Wog' should be mentioned anywhere it is in Wiktionary, not here. 91.106.226.28 (talk) 22:11, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
