The Emperor's Code is the eighth book in The 39 Clues series. This book is written by Gordon Korman.[1] On 2 March 2010 the cover was revealed to show a red mask with codes printed in certain areas over a purple background. After this release, readers were asked to find three out of the four codes printed on the mask, and, if they were successful, 39 Clues fans could read an excerpt from The Emperor's Code.[2][3]

Summary

So far, not much is known about Book 8 other than the 39 Clues Race begins to come to an end (although it doesn't end until book 10), and Amy and Dan get separated, and their aunt Beatrice's detective might find them. [4]

Excerpt

Once 3 of the 4 codes from the cover are entered into the form at http://www.the39clues.com/theemperorscode a link is given to Template:PDFlink. The excerpt is a scene of Dan and Amy riding in an A-Star to the highest place on earth.

Cover Release Codes

This is the first book with codes in the cover.

  • GM, the initials for George Mallory, who attempted to make the world's first ascent of Mount Everest, can be found on the lower right of the mask.
  • Because It's There can be found on the top of the mask. This is a famous quote given by George Mallory in response to the question "Why did you want to climb Mount Everest?".
  • Henry can be found on the lower left of the book cover in the background next to the mask.
  • The Fourth Code remained a mystery, although some thought it was hidden in the symbols on the forehead of the mask, until that theory was proven wrong. If you type in 'mountain', it is the real fourth code.
