Marcie Dodd (born March 10, 1978) is an American stage actress and singer.

Early life and career

Dodd was born in Yuba City, California, the third of four children. Her father is an agricultural consultant and her mother is a piano teacher. She attended Bethany College in Santa Cruz County, California with a major in music from 1997 to 1999. In 1999, she transferred to Azusa Pacific University, where she graduated in 2001.[1] After graduation, she was cast as a singing princess in Disneyland. During a three-year run, she performed as Belle and Snow White. At Disneyland, she met her husband, Colin Follenweider, a stunt-double in many major Hollywood films.[2] The couple were married in 2006.

Dodd's first non-Disney role was as Sandy in a regional production of Grease. She then took understudy roles in the Las Vegas productions of We Will Rock You and Hairspray, before becoming a cast member of the musical Wicked.

Wicked

Dodd's first appearance in Wicked came in the show's national touring production on December 5, 2006. She appeared as an ensemble member, understudying the roles of Nessarose and Elphaba, replacing original national tour Elphaba/Nessarose understudy Maria Eberline. Her first performance as Nessarose was on March 25, 2007 in Miami, Florida, and her first as Elphaba was at the matinee on April 7, 2007 in Houston, Texas.

After a year with the touring production, she joined the Los Angeles company of Wicked as the principle Nessarose, taking over the role from Jenna Leigh Green. Her first performance as Nessarose was on December 13, 2007. After three months of performing as Nessarose full-time, Dodd temporarily replaced the injured Courtney Corey as the understudy for the role of Elphaba while still regularly performing as Nessarose. Her first performance as Elphaba in Los Angeles was on April 22, 2008. Dodd went on to replace Teal Wicks as the standby for the role of Elphaba in Los Angeles on May 16, 2008.[1] She departed the Los Angeles production on October 26, 2008. Vicki Noon succeeded her as standby to Elphaba on November 4, 2008.

After leaving the Los Angeles company, Dodd transferred to Wicked's Broadway production in New York, taking over the lead role of Elphaba from Kerry Ellis, from November 11, 2008, starring alongside Alli Mauzey as Glinda.[1][3] Upon her move to Broadway, she became the first (and only) actress to have performed as both principle Nessarose and principle Elphaba. She remained as Elphaba in New York until January 11, 2009 and was succeeded by Nicole Parker.[4]

Dodd recently originated the role of Elphaba in the second national touring production of Wicked. The production opened on March 7, 2009 in Fort Myers, Florida. Heléne Yorke, and later Natalie Daradich, starred opposite her, in the role of Glinda.[5] Her final performance was on April 4, 2010 In Toledo Ohio. She was replaced by Vicki Noon.
