Nasim Pedrad

Nasim Pedrad (born November 18, 1981) is an Iranian-American actress and comedienne who joined the cast of Saturday Night Live in September 2009.

Biography

Pedrad was born in Tehran, Iran to parents Arasteh Amani and Parviz Pedrad. Pedrad and her parents lived in Tehran until 1984, before relocating to America when Nasim was two years old. She has a younger sister, Nina Pedrad, and they both are fluent in Persian.[1] She was raised in Irvine, California, and graduated from the UCLA's School of Theatre in 2003. Before joining the cast of SNL, Pedrad had performed with The Groundlings, Improv Olympic and Upright Citizens Brigade Theater. She is SNL's first Iranian-American cast member, and the fifth cast member to be born outside of North America (after Tony Rosato, Pamela Stephenson, Morwenna Banks, and Horatio Sanz, who were born in Italy, New Zealand, England, and Chile respectively).[2] In previous years, she had a recurring guest role on ER, playing Nurse Suri.
