Negrophobia (literally "fear of black", from Spanish and/or Portuguese: negro, "black" and from Greek: φόβος, phóbos, "fear") is a fear of black people or people of African descent. Negrophobia can be caused by various things, but commonly, it is a effect of xenophobia. In contrast to popular belief, negrophobia is not associated with racism. A person with negrophobia does not believe his or her race is superior over the black race, but fears the black race.
