Pacsafe is a Hong Kong based company that specializes in travel bags and accessories with anti-theft and security features. It has offices in Hong Kong, US, and Germany and their products are sold and distributed worldwide.

History

Pacsafe is part of Outpac Designs Ltd, and was founded in 1997 by two Australians.[1] The inspiration behind travel security products came from an incident in China, where one of Pacsafe's co-founders had all of his belongings stolen from his bag.[2]

Pacsafe's original product, the PacSafe, is a stainless steel locking device designed to cover and protect bags.[3] The product won Backpacker Magazine's "Editors' Choice" Award in 1999.[4] and the TravelSafe 100 won the 2009 ILM award for intelligent design. [5]

Since its launch, Pacsafe's product line has expanded, and the company now produces a range of travel bags and accessories.

Anti-theft features

Most of Pacsafe’s products have been designed with following anti-theft features:

  • eXomesh Slashguard panels, a patented material developed by Pacsafe [6]
  • Slashproof belts, straps or cables
  • Snatchproof anchor clips and locks
  • Tamperproof zippers and compartments.[7]
