Northgate Mall Northgate is a shopping mall located off I-85 and Gregson Street (exit 176) in Durham, North Carolina USA. This mall is situated in Northern Durham less than a mile form Duke University. The mall has been the dominant regional shopping complex for the past 50 years.

Tenants
Northgate is anchored by Macy's, Sears and Northgate Stadium 10. It has CompUSA as a sub-anchor. Other tenants include Talbots, Bath and Body Works, Chick-fil-A]], Radio Shack, Charlotte Russe, Hibbet Sports and Victoria's Secret. Northgate Mall has over 100 stores.
The food Gallery offers over 10 specialty food vendors with a wide variety of cuisine choices, Greek, Italian, Asian, American. Some mentioned are: Dairy Queen/Orange Julius, Greek Cuisine, and Tomo Japan.
Recent developments
In terms of Digital Media Entertainment the shopping complex overs an FYE, an EB Games and a GameStop, along with a locally owned online gaming center called GameFrog.
Special events that focus on the surrounding communities are a common experience. A few examples include, a once a month "Heart and Sole Mall Walkers Club" sponsered by Duke Heart Center, Career Expos, Fashion Shows, and Holiday Events. There's also a large amount of children's entertainment offered, feauring Northgate Stadium 10 Kids Summer Movie Camp, The Little Shoppers' Club, Adventure Station, Island Carousel, Milk and Cookies with Santa, Jump House and Power Jump making an all-round attractive destination for shoppers.
Northgate Stadium 10, a 10-screen movie theater, is in the process of adding its 2nd auditorium with a 3D Digital Upgrade in time for all the summers 3D Film releases. A number of exterior shops in the "Plaza", include a Marble Slab Creamery, Regency Beauty, and Lace Creations, are part of the mall's exterior adjacent to the theater in an outdoor shopping experience similar to other malls in the area.
Adjacent to the mall are "The Shops at Northgate" a strip-style plaza on the property's west side which includes Guitar Center, C&H Cafeteria, a regional cafeteria chain, and Office Depot.
History of the Island Carousel
Built in Venice, Italy, in the style of the 1800's, this beautiful Carousel is completely handcrafted. The murals are hand painted by Venetian artists. The molds find their inspiration from the original Philip Schneider German Carousel constructed in 1898. This single-deck Carousel holds 40 riders. It is said that it is called a carousel because it revolves counterclockwise, whereas, a Merry-Go-Round turns clockwise.
This Carousel, shipped from Venice in hundreds of pieces, an reassembled here for permanent display. It contains Over 1,060 lights, the mechanisms are German and the horses' tails are real.
Venetian Carousels recreate the atmosphere, fantasy and nostalgia of the old roundabouts originally pulled by real horses.
