Aruhan Galieva

Aruhan Galieva (born Aruhan Bisengalieva, 14 August 1991) is a British singer and actress of mixed Anglo-Kazakh heritage and is best known for her work as a solo soprano on Karl Jenkins' 'Tlep' under Sony BMG . She is currently working on a follow-up album 'Shakarim' which will premiere at the Royal Festival Hall.

Galieva is also the daughter of Kazakh violinist Marat Bisengaliev.

Background and Early Career

Galieva was born in Leeds, Yorkshire, to Virtuoso Violinist Marat Bisengaliev and Flautist Stina Wilson. She grew up learning violin, flute, piano and double bass to a high standard but decided to pursue her passion in singing.

She started performing professionally in 2003 at the age of 11 when she featured as the solo soprano in Karl Jenkins 'Adiemus', which she performed throughout England, Japan, and Kazakhstan, and aired throughout the former soviet union.

She won a music scholarship at the King's School Canterbury in 2005 where she studied for 5 years.

She then went onto to record an album 'Tlep' for Karl Jenkins which she premiered as the solo soprano at the Royal Albert Hall at the age of 13 in 2005. She continued to tour as a soloist with Marat Bisengaliev and the West Kazakhstan Philharmonic Orchestra.

It was during 'Tlep' she met saxophonist Nigel Hitchcock, whom she recorded 'Memories Of The Heart' for as a soloist which is currently unreleased.

In late 2005 she performed Karl Jenkins most famous work 'Adiemus' as the solo soprano at the Canterbury Cathedral at the age of 14.

Whilst studying at the King's School Canterbury she played Eponine in Les Miserables at the age of 15 which she performed in the Marlowe Theatre. A role she reprised two years later at the closing of the theatre 'A Night Of A Thousand Stars' alongside Emma Barton, Paul Hendy and Ron Moody. It was after this experience she decided to pursue a career in acting as well as music and was signed with Abacus Agency at 17.

She was offered a place at the National Youth Theatre in London where she was trained by Amy Leach and Victoria Gould, and studied alongside actor Tom Longley.

She graduated from the National Youth Theatre in 2009.

Career

Aruhan finished at the King's School Canterbury in 2010 and since then has recorded a song for Cookin Budos featuring rapper Trozion.

She has performed extensively for Karl Jenkins and Marat Bisengaliev throughout Europe, America, and Asia.

She has featured in a few independent films and performed in fringe plays as an actress and is currently working on her solo album. Tentene (talk) 20:34, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
