Malayaite has the general formula CaSnO[SiO4][2]. The first half of the name, 'Malay', originates from the locality in which it was found; which is the Malay Peninsula in Malaysia.[3] 'aite' indicates that this mineral is a member of the Titanite-group of minerals.
