Logan

Logan is a five piece hard rock band from Glasgow, Scotland.

Their self-funded debut album First Leaf Fallen was released in 2003 and they followed this up with Welcome to the Wasteland a year later, building an impressive UK fan base the two releases selling in excess of 8,000 copies.

In 2005 they secured high profile support slots with American hard rock band Alter Bridge, which helped them to become one of the most talked about unsigned bands in the UK, and spreading the word via the internet to the US, Europe and Australia.

In June 2006 they released their first single “When I Get Down” which debuted at No.12 on the Official UK Rock Chart and proceeded to stay in the chart for seven weeks – a feat never before achieved by an unsigned band. September 2006 saw the release of their third album Cruel Little World and their second single “Hallowed Ground” followed, again breaking into the UK Rock Chart Top Twenty, Logan becoming the only unsigned band to have achieved two successive hits.

2007 saw the band win two awards at The UK Glasswerks Awards for New Music and a nomination as ones to watch in 2008 by the UK's leading rock magazine Classic Rock and an inclusion on the accompanying cover mount CD.

2008 saw the members of the band drop their day jobs and go full time, signing a new management deal and rehearsing unrelentingly. Airplay of the forthcoming single "Lost & Found" on Rock Radio and support from fans via a Glasgow newspaper, won the band a support slot with Bon Jovi at Scotland’s National Stadium, Hampden Park, in front of 40,000 fans, many of who saw the band for the first time. The subsequent eight-date UK summer headline tour pushed sales of Cruel Little World to sell out status. Total sales of all three releases are now nudging 30,000 with no label support.

In the midst of this surge of activity, Logan were approached by US film producers to submit a song for the movie The Jump Off featuring hip-hop star Chris Brown. Bemused by their selection they requested a copy of the script and composed “The Great Unknown” to complement the storyline, but keeping their signature melodic hard rock sound. The producers not only loved the song but were knocked out by the band’s approach, commenting that virtually every other artist had submitted an existing track from their back catalogue. The band head to LA in October to meet with the producers and spend some time cutting videos for “Lost & Found” and “When I Get Down” - heading back in early 2009 to shoot The Great Unknown during film production. A showcase gig is scheduled at the world famous Roxy Theatre on Sunset Strip on October 29 already generating interest in industry circles.

A new pressing of Cruel Little World with three bonus tracks, including “Lost & Found” will be released on November 1 to complement a 25 date UK and European tour in support of Alter Bridge running from November 4 until December 10. Logan will round off the year with a Christmas Homecoming Show in Glasgow.

The history of Logan

In the first year of existence for Logan, the band was in the strange situation of being completely unknown in their own country, whilst having a fanbase that grew on an almost daily basis in the USA.

By hosting copies of their early demos on discussion boards of bands like Creed, Nickelback, Alter Bridge, Puddle of Mudd, Staind, 12 Stones etc. Logan had managed to get their music heard by a very large pool of rock music fans. With the help of the new fans, Logan got their demos played on a clutch of radio stations all over the USA which in turn led to a proposal of sponsorship on the (now defunct) Budweiser True Music program and an invitation to fly to Washington DC and showcase for the former Vice President of A&R at Sony/Epic records.

The trip to the USA but it did bring the band into contact with Mark Tremonti, who was at that point a member of Creed. When Creed split up, and Tremonti was coming to the UK with his new band Alter Bridge, Logan were invited to be the support. As of 2007, Logan have sold 30,000 albums. A feat unprecedented by a band without a major record label behind them.

In May 2008 Logan were named in The Scotsman newspaper as Scotland’s top unsigned rock band[1].

In June 2008 Logan supported Bon Jovi during their Lost Highway tour at Glasgow's Hampden Park, where they played to an estimated audience of 25,000[2], their largest crowd to date.

Logan are to contribute a song, "The Great Unknown", to the soundtrack of the forthcoming Hollywood movie, The Jump-Off starring Chris Brown.[3]

Logan went to L.A in October 2008, where they shot two videos, the first for "Lost And Found", a new song which would appear on a re-release of the "Cruel Little World" album. The other, a new video for firm fan favourite "When I Get Down" which was filmed in front of a blue screen and features some stunning visual effects normally found in Hollywood blockbusters. Whilst they were there, they also played a showcase gig at the legendary Roxy Theatre. Upon returning to the UK, they went out on a full UK and European supporting run with Alter Bridge. taking the band into new territories and winning new fans in nearly every city they played.

In 2009, the band and continued to write new material whilst their management team continued negotiations with record companies from across the globe, with little or no success. During the summer months they again embarked on a full UK headline tour. They also played the Main Stage at Hard Rock Hell 3, an annual rock/metal festival held at Pontins in Prestatyn, North Wales. They rounded off the year playing a sold out show in their home town of Glasgow, parts of which (including the entire performance of "When I get Down" )were filmed as part of a campaign to get the band more coverage in America.

The band are rumoured to be heading to L.A again in 2010 to record the long awaited follow up to "Cruel Little World". Logan have announced that their new album will be titled "The Great Unknown" and will be released worldwide on October 5. The first single off of "The Great Unknown" will be "Jump In Again", and will be released in the coming weeks. Kenny revealed in a recent interview that "Jump In Again" is a song about relationships, and was specifically chosen by Keith Olsen as their lead single.

On August 19, three new songs were made available to listen to online at Logan.net. They were "Jump In Again", "Hurricane" and "Save Me".
