Hi,
Thanks for the reactivation of my article: The Year of the Three Kings (England 1066)
However, I need help in putting references, because although I've gone according to
the pages on how to make them, but I still seem to be doing them wrong. :(
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Thanks

Thanks for your review of mechanical filter at FAC, I was not really seeking or expecting a return review. I reviewed Zeno's petrel because I was feeling guitly for making a mess of the FAC page by arguing with J. Millburn so I felt I owed it to you. Quick deletion of page Jeffrey James - Television Anchor

Hi, Jimfbleak, I put up the page a few days ago and carefully used the references to ensure the sources were related. I received a message that the page had been taken down as it appeared to be a duplicate of www.jeffreyjames.tv It is and I am the holder of that website and I am able to send Wikipedia an email from jeffrey@jeffreyjames.tv to confirm that this is so. I am new to Wikipedia and please excuse my ignorance of the system. I would like you to be kindly reconsider re-instating the page? I hope this is the right way to approach you at Wikipedia. If I need to send that emal, then please tell me who I should send it to? I have some more information to make the page more interesting but wanted to get a basic page up first. I am a bit lost. Please help with this? best regards, Jeffrey James My wifipedia nick is Jeffrey2028 (----). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jeffrey2028 (talkcontribs) 18:00, 30 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Could you go ahead and undelete the Jeffrey James (television) article? We have received OTRS permission for it which I can add as soon as it is restored. VernoWhitney (talk) 11:55, 2 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of Stephen T. Savage page

Jim, I am seeking more details around why this page was deleted. My purpose is posting was to raise info around this author. He has two published books and, based on what I've seen on other Wiki pages, deserves to have a page with info on his work, awards, and reviews. Is the issue that you need more external links to prove that this is not just a mechanism for promotion? If that's the case, it's easily done - just seeking clarification around what's need to create this page. Thanks. Grumpusman. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Grumpusman (talkcontribs) 17:22, 1 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

B.B.O.C article

Hello, i see you had recently deleated the article B.B.O.C, I am going to recreate this page due to the fact that its an up an coming australian band and i will ad more stuff to it. Also if theres anything i must include please send that to me so that way we dont get the article deleated again. Pattav2 (talk) 11:36, 2 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm puzzled by your summary deletion of this stub. It claims that Regner was "a French surrealist painter and engraver". True, it asserted no notability whatever among the massed ranks of French surrealist painters or engravers, but it did point to fr:Alfred Georges Regner, which lists four books devoted to his work. (Worldcat confirms their existence.) The fr:WP article is indeed unsourced, but a bit of googling soon shows for example authoritative evidence for a municipally run posthumous exhibition of Regner's work. How about undeleting the stub and sending an amicable message to its probably puzzled author?

(If you care to reply to me as well as to Paris Perche, please do so here; I'm watching.) -- Hoary (talk) 21:58, 2 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

My understanding is that I make judgements on articles posted on English Wikipedia, not other languages, and you make an assumption that I am able to read another languages (true in the case of French, but not for most languages — what if it was zh:wikipedia?). It is for the editor to establish notability, not for an admin to do the research instead, either through translating another wiki or searching the Internet. I suspect that if I hadn't picked up the article it would soon have picked up tags leading either to deletion or to a need for someone to do the work to salvage it.
I could recreate the one-sentence stub, but I really think it would be better for Paris Perche or yourself to start from scratch so that the article is created with a clear assertion of notability and proper references — after all, you have already done the research, so you are ideally placed to recreate as a proper article. Alternatively, as an admin yourself you can recreate the stub if you prefer — I won't object or revert. I hope this helps Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:03, 3 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well, you seemed a bright and educated chap, so I assumed that even if you'd learned no French you'd be able to infer from the French article what I inferred from it and presented above. (I know no Spanish, but had the article been in Spanish I'd have inferred this much from it.)
It is indeed "for the editor to establish notability, not for an admin to do the research instead". But noobies may not know this, because after all en:WP is stuffed with articles that don't credibly establish notability. (You and I know that "other crap exists" doesn't justify the retention of more crap, but noobies don't know this.)
I'm an admin. And my French is adequate to the job. I do indeed have the skills needed to recreate this as a proper article. But I really don't want to, because (a) I have commitments elsewhere; and (b) as for creating articles here, during the last 24 hours or so I've already (i) done Patrick Ward (voluntarily, but harder work than I'd thought for such a weak result) and (ii) with much less enthusiasm defended and augmented Norita.
Regner has been dead for over twenty years; there's no risk of self-promotion here. And as for other promotion, the stub gave no hint of it. Thus it was pretty inoffensive. But perhaps dislikes in bio-articles differ; my own dislikes encompass various aspects of this sort of thing. (Although taken to extremes, it can be funny.) -- Hoary (talk) 07:58, 3 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm just about to start writing something I will be paid for. When I've finished, probably in a couple of days, if neither you nor the original editor has recreated, I'll see what I can do Jimfbleak - talk to me? 09:10, 3 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Spoken like a gentleman, Sir. As you'll see, I've recreated it, and I've stuck in references galore, but I haven't augmented the content. I think it's for a devotee of surrealist painting/engraving to do that -- and of course I've no reason to think that you are any more of a devotee than I am. (I was one when I was in my mid-teens; but then suddenly much of surrealism seemed drearily programmatic, rendered still worse by its credulous regurgitation of Freudian twaddle.) Given the time to write a decent little bio of Regner, I'd really rather spend it writing a decent little bio of somebody else. Still, I might take a look. -- Hoary (talk) 12:24, 3 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I recently went round the Dali museum in Bruges. While I can admire his technique, I really think that Salvadore did his best to maintain a controversial image for essentially commercial reasons - and good for him, say I. (I also did the chocolate museum, more interesting than you would think) Jimfbleak - talk to me? 13:58, 3 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
There's a Dali museum in Bruges too? Yes, he was in it for the money, and openly so. Still, Dali was a good sport for Halsman. Recommended! -- Hoary (talk) 14:15, 3 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jim,

I hope this is the right way to go about contacting you.

I am new to wikipedia and have been tasked with uploading a reference page for the chairman of my company ahead of his meetings with variuos members of government (unfortunately his namesake 'Tom Holmes' was the chairman of the National Front). I posted the page 'Thomas Ross Holmes' last week and began editing to meet guidelines, but the page has been deleted for 'vanity'. Is that due to the content on the page, or the nature of it, and is there a way for me to resubmit in a fashion that wouldn't be deleted? Please advise the best way to complete my task

Many thanks in advance

My Article

Hi Jim

I'm new to this system, but I just noticed you deleted my entry for the company Grindmaster-Cecilware. I am not sure what I did wrong but I followed the format of similar companies within the industries. I followed the format similar to of [[Bunn Corporation]] and the entry for Bunn Corporation has not been deleted. If you could please explain what I need to add to the entry in order to avoid deletion, I would very much appreciate it.

Thanks

Hi Jim,

Thanks for your detailed guidance concerning the 'Thomas Ross Holmes' article I posted. I will go back to the drawing board with it and resubmit the amended version upon completion.

Kind regards
