This article is about the arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. For the arena in Buffalo, New York, see HSBC Arena (Buffalo).

HSBC Arena indoor multi-purpose arena located in the neighborhood of Barra da Tijuca in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The arena was completed in 2007. It hosted the basketball and gymnastics events at the 2007 Pan American Games. In December 2007, the arena started being operated by GL Events, who also operates the nearby Riocentro Convention Center and the Riocentro Sports Complex, and started hosting music concerts from a various hand of artists. The arena will host the telethon show Criança Esperança after 2008, replacing Ginásio Ibirapuera as the host.

Starting March 29, 2008, the arena started to be called HSBC Arena, as part of a naming rights agreement with the bank.[2]

The Olympic Arena will also host the basketball and gymnastics events of the 2016 Summer Olympics.[3] The HSBC Arena name may possibly be masked during the Olympics since corporate sponsorship is not allowed in the names of Olympic venues.

Artists that have performed at the arena include Lily Allen, Beyoncé, Black Label Society, Andrea Bocelli, Roberto Carlos, Cat Power, Robert Cray, Bob Dylan, Nelly Furtado, Isa TKM, Demi Lovato, Korn, Maroon 5, Alanis Morissette, Muse, The Offspring, Ozzy Osbourne, Queen + Paul Rodgers, R.E.M., RBD, Scorpions, Seal, Rod Stewart, Dave Matthews Band, Joss Stone and Anahí among others.
