Comes with the Fall

Comes with the Fall is a rock group that was formed in 1999 in Atlanta, Georgia.

History

Early career (1999–2000)

Comes with the Fall was formed in late summer of 1999 in Atlanta, Georgia. The band, consisting of William DuVall, Nico Constantine, Adam Stanger, and Bevan Davies, changed their location to Los Angeles in 2000, and frequently performed in the local club scene.

Rise to fame (2000–2002)

2000 brought not only a new location for CWTF but the release of their sold out self-titled debut album.

In 2001, guitarist Nico Constantine, left the band to eventually start his current band Program the Dead.

NEW YEAR, OLD LOUD: The first hot tip for 2002 is a hard-rock delight that will make your head spin in reverse - to the late-Eighties dawn of Seattle and the Presence-era bloom of Led Zeppelin. Sounding like rap metal and bubble punk never happened, The Year Is One (DVL Recordings, CD) by the L.A. power trio Comes with the Fall is a record of vintage kicks: fat melodic riffing and heroically sung vocals. It's no accident that ex-Alice in Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell has used CWTF as his backing band on tour. On their own, singer-guitarist-songwriter William DuVall, bassist Adam Stanger and drummer Bevan Davies actually sound like Alice unchained, firing up the thumping classicism of "Murder Scene" and "So Cruel" with wholly modern pop heart. "We're gonna hijack time/We're gonna raise the dead," DuVall promises in "So Divine," howling like an improbable mix of Jimi Hendrix and Deep Purple's Ian Gillan. Perfectly titled for an era of rebuilding, this is a great rock record for and about starting over."

— David Fricke, Rolling Stone

In 2001 they released The Year Is One.

Comes With the Fall -- Fresh off spending the better part of 2002 not only opening for Jerry Cantrell, but doubling as his backing band, Comes With the Fall are poised to make their own mark. This trio, based in L.A. by way of Atlanta, are not afraid to rock. They'll give you Alice In Chains heaviness with Led Zeppelin power, and try something unheard of in music today: guitar solos, loud choruses and a kick in the face not felt this hard since Seattle in '91.

In 2002, CWTF released their third album, Live 2002, along with the accompanying same titled DVD. They also pulled double duty opening for and backing Jerry Cantrell on his Degradation Trip tour.

On hiatus (2003–2006)

2003, CWTF embarked on a cross country tour with long time friends from Atlanta Dropsonic. Mid-tour, Bevan Davies left to tour with Glenn Danzig. Dropsonic's drummer Brian Hunter pulled double duty playing for his band and CWTF for the remaining shows.

In 2006, Alice in Chains decided to have a reunion tour in memory of Layne Staley, who died in 2002 of a drug overdose. They recruited DuVall as their lead singer for the tour. They toured until late November. On their official site, DuVall stated that that while Comes with the Fall has finished recording, mixing, and mastering their forthcoming new album ("Beyond The Last Light") the band could not give it the full promotion it deserves so the release date has yet to be determined. Until the AIC tour ends, they are currently on hiatus.

New EP (2006)

In the summer of 2006, Comes with the Fall released a 5 song EP titled The Reckoning. Early 2006 release Rockslide, along with 3 brand new songs were included.

New Tour, New Album (2007-present)

The end of February 2007 saw the start of CWTF's first tour in 4 years. The 8 city west coast tour began on February 27, 2007.

William DuVall toured with Alice in Chains starting August 7, 2007, through the fall. Adam Stanger is currently performing with The Young Royals, which also features Eric Bradley. Bevan Davies has been filling in for Static-X's drummer Nick Oshiro who broke his hand and also did a brief stint for Invitro's Bennie Cancino on the Family Values Tour.

After a 5-year span since the release of their last album, CWTF officially announced on their Myspace page the latest album's release date. "Beyond the Last Light" will be available for sale beginning September 4, 2007.

As of 2010, William DuVall has become an official member of Alice In Chains, and they are currently touring in support of their 2009 release "Black Gives Way To Blue".
