Tamara Lackey is a professional photographer, best-selling author, workshop teacher and international speaker. Her work has been published in numerous lifestyle magazines including Vogue, O – The Oprah Magazine, Town & Country, Parenting Magazine, Food & Wine, The Knot; in trade outlets such as Professional Photographer Magazine, Professional ImageMaker and Rangefinder Magazine; and on national television programs including NBC’s “The Martha Stewart Show” and ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.”

In 2008, Lackey released her best-selling educational book, “The Art of Children’s Portrait Photography,” to praise from editorial reviews, peers and aspiring photographers. The book, which explains how photographers can develop their image storytelling skills to develop stunning portraits and guides the reader on best capturing their subject’s personality, is one of the top-selling books in the portrait photography industry.

Following the success of her book, Lackey teamed up with Principal Cinematographer Rex Ballard, from the Emmy award-winning ABC's “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," to produce "Inside Contemporary Children's Photography,” a 90-minute full-feature video released in January 2010. The DVD provides viewers with hands-on instruction, a behind-the-scenes look at studio and on- location photo shoots, and information on running a successful portrait photography business.

In 2010 Lackey also paired up with Kevin Kubota to develop an artist series book created to instruct viewers on improving their own portrait and children’s photography using Kubota Actions. The “Tamara Lackey Style Book” was released in September.

Translating her professional acumen to a consumer audience, Lackey once again paired up with Rex Ballard to develop an entertaining and educational guide to help “everyday photographers” capture more from their life moments. Available October 2010, “Tamara Lackey's Capturing Life through (Better) Photography” teaches simple tips and tricks to transform point-and-shoot images into little works of art in a fun and approachable way. “Tamara Lackey's Capturing Life through (Better) Photography” includes a 100-page book and 90-minute full-feature DVD sold individually or as a bundle with included quick reference guide.

In addition to her professional and consumer products, Lackey has presented internationally at industry workshops and events, which include serving as a keynote speaker at the National Association of Professional Child Photographers’ Retreat and participating as a panel judge for the WPPI International Print Competition.
