Matekitonga Moeakiola (born 16 May 1978) is an American rugby union player. He currently plays for Albi, and for the United States national side. Moeakiola made his debut at the 2007 Rugby World Cup, scoring a try after coming on as a substitute in the Eagles' opening match against England[1]. Moeakiola plays as a prop. Mate was first noticed by the National Team while playing rugby at the University of Utah. He has since played for the North America 4 Tournament, the U.S. Team that played Munster in Chicago and the Rugby World Cup squad that played in France. In fact, Mate played in all four matches at the RWC and scored a try against England in the USA’s first match of the tournament.

Matekitonga just finished up his schooling at the University of Utah and following his performance in the Rugby World Cup was scouted by Pukekohe to play in New Zealand. He is now playing with Pearl City, in Iowa.

Matekitonga's father, brother and uncle also played rugby.
