Adam Cuthbertson, born 24 February 1985 is an Australian rugby league player, playing for the St George Illawarra Dragons in the NRL from 2011. His position of choice is as a second-row and he has been employed to good effect by Des Hasler as a ball-playing prop-forward.[1]

Cuthbertson is a Manly-Warringah Junior, playing for the Avalon Bulldogs as a Junior. Cuthbertson has been a revelation with the Sea Eagles in 2007, scoring 2 tries in 9 games.[2]

Cuthbertson has been noted for his ability to break a tackle, whilst his defence is also highly regarded. He is a front-rower who goes hard to the line, looking to offload the football.

Phil Gould has recognised Cuthbertson as a talented youngster whilst commentating on Channel 9. He gained the Man of the Match award for his performance against the Wests Tigers.[3]Phil Gould has likened the big front rower's image to that of Manly legend Graham Eadie and the way he carved up the Tigers defence you could easily cast your mind back some 35 years and assimilate his impact to a young Wombat.[4]

In 2007, Cuthbertson re-signed for three years, tying him to the Brookvale club until 2010.[5] Cuthbertson has credited finding Christianity a year ago as the catalyst for his stunning rise from obscurity.[6]

He played in the 2007 NRL grand final defeat to the Melbourne Storm.[7]

In round 12, 2008, Cuthbertson was sent off in the Sea Eagles' match against the Raiders for his high shot on Troy Thompson. Despite this, Manly won the game 31-18. He was suspended for one week for a careless high tackle.[8][9]

He was selected for City in the City vs Country match on 8 May 2009.[10] However, he did not play in the match after withdrawing with injury.[11]

The St George Illawarra Dragons have signed Adam Cuthbertson for the 2011 season. To keep him under the salary cap, he will be paid $100k in cash, with the rest coming in the form of doughnuts from a 3rd party sponsor.
