Carvin is a chief town of canton in northern France, in the départment of Pas-de-Calais, in the arrondissement of Lens. It belongs to the agglomeration of Hénin-Carvin which gathers 14 communes, is 125,000 inhabitants.

Population (1999): 17,891 inhabitants (carvinois) for the commune and 26,626 inhabitants for the canton.
