Music career

2007-08: Career developments and Amy Meredith EP

Before Amy Meredith recorded their first EP, frontman Christian Lo Russo organised a showcase in Sydney and invited many record company executives, however Warner Music believed they already had an informal deal at the time and so retracted their offer[1]. A day after the showcase, the band signed a record deal with a Japanese label but were again dropped[1] The EP was eventually recorded in January 2008 with producers John Hardy and Peter Mayes and was released digitally on June 7, 2008[2] and physically on August 22, 2008.[3] It contained 4 original tracks but made no major impact, and the band were rejected by Triple J (the radio demographic they originally aspired to appeal to) who told them that they did not fit their format.[1] During 2007 the band toured with the Silversun Pickups[4] and in 2008 they toured with The Bravery and !!![5]

2009-present: Restless

In 2009, Amy Meredith toured with Snob Scrilla[6], Cobra Starship[7] and Evermore[8], and supported Good Charlotte on their acoustic concert at the Factory Theatre in Newtown, New South Wales[9]. In October 2009, Amy Meredith released their debut single "Pornstar"[10], which peaked at No. 65 on the ARIA Singles Chart.[11] In early 2010, they toured with Welsh rock band, Stereophonics on their "Keep Calm, Carry On World Tour"[12] and released their second single, "Lying"[13], which peaked at No. 10[14], making it their first top-10 single on the charts and was certified gold[15] Amy Meredith headlined a national tour on the back of this single during April and May.[16] Their debut album, Restless was released on July 2, 2010 and debuted at No. 8 on the ARIA Albums Chart.[17] In August 2010, Amy Meredith toured with Grinspoon as their support act.[18] In September, Amy Meredith released their new single, "Young At Heart" They are currently headlining their second national tour, the "Restless Tour", throughout to October, and November.[19]
