Anti-fragility
Appearance
Anti-fragility is a concept developed by Nassim Nicholas Taleb, based on the theory that there is no opposite idea in the English language to fragility; robustness is merely the absence of fragility, not its opposite. Taleb postulates that not only are their economic entities which are robust (i.e. they tend to resist shocks) but that there are also entities which benefit from shocks, hence they are anti-fragile. Furthermore, he recommends that systems like the global financial system should be designed so that they are not only resilient to shocks, but actually benefit from them.
