History

OCCT from its founding was run as a fully democratic, student-owned and operated cooperative until 1995, a year of great controversy for the storied "blue buses", as they became known over the years. That summer, as chronicled in the student newspaper "Pipe Dream," a lock-out followed when the student cooperative voted to shut-down during the summer until the university administration back off on its attempts to re-form its governance and impose a non-elected, administration-appointed coordinator. A former student- driver and one-time coordinator was hired to lead the "new" OCCT, and a trickle of co-op drivers soon flocked to the altered and newly-hiring OCCT, which exists to this day without its original structure.[2]
