Andy Whitfield
{Itemid=172|title=Interview: Andy Whitfield Talks SPARTACUS: BLOOD AND SAND|last=Radish|first=Christina|date=22 January 2010|work=IESB|accessdate=25 January 2010}}</ref> Whitfield also appears in the upcoming Australian thriller The Clinic starring opposite Tabrett Bethell (of Legend of the Seeker fame), set for release in 2010, which was shot in Deniliquin.[1] In August 2010, Whitfield teamed up with Freddie Wong and created a 2 minute long YouTube video named "Time Crisis", based on the game Time Crisis. Whitfield will make a brief appearance in the prequel mini-series Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, scheduled to premiere in January 2011.[2]

Personal life
He was born to Robert and Pat Whitfield in Amlwch, Wales. He moved to Australia in 1999.[3] He has a sister named Laura.[4]
Whitfield is married to Vashti Whitfield[4] and has two children.[5][1]
Illness
In March 2010, Whitfield was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma, beginning treatment immediately in New Zealand.[6] This delayed production of season two of Spartacus: Blood and Sand.[6]
In June 2010 it was announced that Whitfield completely finished his treatment, had a clean bill of health and was expected to be back on the set of Spartacus: Blood and Sand by October.[7] Three months later, in September, it was announced that Whitfield's cancer has returned and he would not be returning for the second season of Spartacus.[8]
