The Sunday Night Project
The Friday Night Project is a programme that first aired in the United Kingdom on the Channel 4 network in February, 2005.
It was originally presented by comics Jimmy Carr, Rob Rouse, Sharon Horgan and roving reporter Lucy Montgomery with sporadic appearances from Abi Titmuss. The presenters were joined each week by a guest presenter and a guest band. Guest presenters have included Vinnie Jones, Kelly Osbourne and Kelly Brook whilst the bands Fightstar, The Bravery, Moby and The Futureheads have also featured.
The show returned in 2006 with host comedians Justin Lee Collins and Alan Carr as regulars with segments from Debra Stephenson and Chantelle Houghton. The guest hosts for the series were:
- Billie Piper (Episode One)
- Lorraine Kelly (Episode Two) (Editors as the Guest Band)
- Christian Slater (Episode Three) (The Kooks as the Guest Band)
- Denise van Outen (Episode Four) (Boy Kill Boy as the Guest Band)
- Michael Barrymore (Episode Five) (The Ordinary Boys as the Guest Band)
- Jamie Oliver (Episode Six) (Kubb as the Guest Band)
- Jessie Wallace (Episode Seven) (Hard-Fi as the Guest Band)
- Trisha Goddard (Episode Eight) (The Automatic as the Guest Band)
A third series of the show is to run for 11 weeks whilst Big Brother is on in summer 2006. Justin Lee Collins and Alan Carr are to return as hosts, and the format is to be exactly the same as the second series.
The web and print publishing company The Friday Project alleges that the series stole its name from their site. This has led to The Friday Project creating a spoof site displaying mis-spelt feedback from Friday Night Project viewers.
