Biography

San Banarje is an American independent filmmaker, cinematographer, producer and actor. He was born in Calcutta, India and currently lives in Houston, Texas.

San was born in refugee camp in Calcutta and throughout his school years he did not have electricity in his slum. He studied under street lights and graduated with a degree in Science. However while studying for his masters, he decided to pursue filmmaking which was his passion. San worked with legendary Bengali film actor Soumitra Chatterjee in his feature "Bodhisattva" which he shot in his native India in Bengali language in 2009.

In 2003, San founded the Next Actor Studio in Houston which later became a community for actors, filmmakers, screenwriters and editors.
