SPY-2 Doesn't Exist

There's no such thing as a SPY-2 radar. The BMD function of the Tico's, Burke's, and the JMSDF's Kongo-class, comes from the SPY-1 radar, be it SPY-1B, SPY-1D, or SPY-1D(V). The radar really has nothing to do with it, the signal processor that drives the radar is what allows the system to seek ballistic missiles. Someone should really do some research on this before posting. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.91.172.42 (talk) 21:38, 21 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

SPY-3 mischaracterization

SPY-3 is just the X-band part of the DDG-1000's radar suite. The S-band part is called the Volume Search Radar. Together they form the the Dual Band Radar system. —Preceding unsigned comment added by B.Smitty (talkcontribs) 15:21, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

So if I understand correctly AN/SPY3 is directly comparable to the Thales APAR ? That one is also meant to be combined with a Volume Search Radar, although that VSR is L-band instead of S-band (SMART-L). In that case it might be interesting to provide a comparison between the two systems somewhere.
