VRA Amsterdam

VRA Amsterdam is a Cricket club in The Netherlands based in the The Hague Amsterdam's VRA Cricket Association was founded on September 5, 1914 from a merger of Perseverance (1889), RAP (1887) and Amstel (1885). In the early years the club played cricket on great locations like the Vondelpark, Museumplein and the Olympic Stadium. VRA in 1939 moved to the Amsterdam Forest, where it still is located right next to the internationalWagenar Hockey Stadium .

VRA has as one of the few clubs on the European mainland on a grass wicket. This is home base for international top VRA regularly. Thus, VRA host venue of the Videocon Cup 2004 , a three-Nation between Australia, India and Pakistan, with tens of thousands of supporters. The World Cup match against South Africa, Kenya was another highlight in 1999 was organized jointly by the Royal Dutch Cricket Association. In July 2006 Sri Lanka played two official games against the Netherlands at VRA Cricket. On the first day was broken the world record runs. Jayasuriya (157) and Dilshan (117) laid the foundation for a score of 443 runs.

After the national championships in 1937 and 1981 won the first Men's Team in the past ten years the title seven times. But the other teams reap the rewards of a well organized club. Currently, four men's teams play on Sunday, seven teams on Saturday, including the Women's Team (Champion of the Netherlands in 2000 and 2004) and seven youth teams.
